Croatia has one of the most beautiful coasts in Europe, from beautiful islands, hidden beaches, party spots and the crystal blue sea. Island Krk is the second largest Croatian island in the Adriatic, but the most populated one. Situated in the bay of Kvarner, near Rijeka, it offers everything from historical sites to beautiful beaches where you can relax in the sun.
Since Krk is probably the closest island you can visit from Zagreb and neighbouring cities, it’s one of the most visited destinations by Croatians from the continental part of the country, especially near Zagreb. There people have built their vacation homes where they spend their holidays or rent them out during the summer season.
Krk offers a lot, special pieces of history relating to the Croatian kings and the Republic of Venice, relaxing hidden beaches where you can lay in the sun the whole day, crystal blue sea where you can swim with friends, not to mention restaurants where you can enjoy Croatian continental cuisine, seafood dishes and desserts.
Here are a few photos of my recent road trip to the city of Krk, island Krk, which show how beautiful it is even during the winter season. Enjoy!
So why not visit.. maybe this summer? – think about it! π
