First time I made stir fry I didn’t even have a wok to cook it in. I searched for a recipe, since a friend of mine told me I had to try it out, you have to understand it was years ago when such dishes weren’t even on the menus of restaurants in Zagreb. After finding the recipe, the only thing left was to actually find a store selling all of the ingredients needed, even felt like I was on a treasure hunt. Nevertheless I found all the ingredients and used the largest pan I had to prepare it in.
It was so simple to make and all of those flavours got me to fall in love with this way of preparing vegetables and meat. After that, I got a wok for my birthday and until today I’ve cooked in it so much that I’ve replaced it a couple of times for a new one. Cooking can be easy if you enjoy what you’re doing!

Ingredients
- 500 g beef, sliced
- 1 tbsp smoked red paprika
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 2 tsp Sriracha extra hot sauce
- 2 tsp lime juice
- 100 g broccoli, sliced
- 100 g zucchini, sliced
- 70 g carrot, julienne sliced
- 70 g onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, sliced
- 70 g red bell pepper, sliced
- 70 g green bell pepper, sliced
- Peanut oil
- Salt & pepper to taste
How to
- Season sliced beef with smoked paprika, garlic powder, soy sauce, oyster sauce, Sriracha extra hot sauce, lime juice, salt & pepper. Let it rest in the fridge for about 20 minutes.
- Heat a large wok, sprinkle some peanut oil and toss sliced beef, marinade, sliced carrots and onion. Cook for a few minutes occasionally tossing vegetables and beef. Add sliced broccoli, zucchini, red bell pepper, green bell pepper, garlic and a bit more of peanut oil if needed. Toss the vegetables and beef for a few more minutes so they’re cooked but still crisp. You can serve the dish by itself or next to boiled rice. Enjoy!

I’ve been making stir fries longer than I care to remember – probably seriously back in the 80’s when I took a Chinese cooking class. It’s one of my favorite meals because you can make it your own with the sauce and especially with the veggies you use. Looks like a good recipe π
