Hvar – the most beautiful island in the Adriatic!

Today I just found out I’m probably going to get another chance in September to go to the island of Hvar and Vis since my parents are going there for business and they invited me to go with them. If you’ve been reading my posts I’ve been sharing lots of photos from my vacation there last week and every time I go through all of the photos taken there I just remember all of the amazing moments I experienced.

So far I shared photos of Split and Vis, and in this post it’s time for the photos I took on the island of Hvar. Hvar has been my vacation destination since I was a kid. First time I was at the seaside was when I was 1 month old and my parents took me to Hvar. It’s the place where I learned how to walk and how to swim, where I spent all of my summers until the age of 16.

I knew all the best places to go with friends to hang out, all the most beautiful beaches, best restaurants and cafes. For years we’ve been coming to stay in the same apartment which we rented from a kind and loving family we considered our own. That’s why Hvar means so much to me today.

The morning I was going from Vis to Hvar I could feel butterflies in my stomach, not sure why, but this was the first time in years since I last went there. As I stepped out of the boat, I was looking all around checking what has changed, and I have to say many things have.

That first thought was getting stronger as we were going around the city. Things have changed but the feeling was still the same. I still knew where everything was, where I could get the perfect breakfast, where I can sit for coffee or take the most beautiful photo of the city.

After taking the stroll around the city I had lunch with the people who my family used to rent the apartment from, they grilled fresh fish caught that morning and I have to tell you I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. We met at their place because I had to go through their vegetable garden right to the beach where I learned how to swim once again. They’ve changed the house a bit, built a beach house – smaller one which they also rent, they grow more vegetables and fruit in a garden in front of their house leading to the beach. But that’s the same place I used to love, and love to this day.

Hvar today is a different place than it was 10 years ago, but still has that charm and architecture and amazing food everyone still comes for. If you ever get the chance to go there I urge you to do so – you won’t regret it!
