Roasted chicken & fries

Despite the name French fries they are actually not French. The origins of French fries are traced back to Belgium where they’ve been preparing them since 1600s. According to some stories, villagers often ate small fried fish, but during the winter the river would freeze over so they had to find another source of food, so they turned to potatoes. American soldiers first came across French fries during the World War I, and since the official language of the Belgium army was French they name fried potatoes as French fries. All of these stories may or may not be true but today French fries are one of the most popular food in the world.

When it comes to French fries everyone has their own favourite dip, from ketchup and mayonnaise to sweet chilli and tartar sauce. The biggest surprise to me were chocolate covered French fries they started serving in McDonald’s in Japan. My favourite dip is sweet chilli, and of course ketchup. So how many of your like French fries, and what’s your favourite dip? πŸ˜€

This dish isn’t as healthy, but all of us have our cheat day – that day when we let ourselves eat anything and everything, this would be one of my go-to dishes when I feel free to eat anything. And in Belgium these potatoes are really!! good ( and in Netherland). At home I do not eat french fries, becaouse I do not like all this fritter stuff. But in restaurant it would be nice. And with ketchup. Or with mayonnaise πŸ™‚
