Pork chops with gnocchi in mushroom sauce

The first recipe I used wine in was my famous mushroom sauce. It’s also one of my favourite recipes and the one my friends always ask me to make when we go on a road trip to the seaside. The best thing is that my friend makes the best white wine from white grapes from his vineyard. The sweetness and the citrusy flavour make the sauce more flavourful after some reduction. Mixing in softly cooked gnocchi makes the dish even better as they connect with the flavours. The dish itself could go without pork chops served with fresh lamb’s lettuce. Enjoy it as much as I did and trust me it’s the best dish after a long day at work.

Preparation: 30 min

Cook time: 1 h min

Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 300 g mushrooms, sliced
  • 150 ml vegetable broth
  • 80 ml white wine
  • 1 tsp parsley
  • 1 tsp basil
  • 100 ml cooking cream
  • 4 pork chops
  • 1 tsp red pepper
  • 300 g gnocchi
  • salt & pepper to taste

Steak with gnocchi in mushroom sauce

How to

  1. Season the pork chops with red pepper, salt and pepper.
  2. Heat butter in a large sauce pan. Stir in chopped garlic and onion. Let it simmer for a few minutes. Add sliced mushrooms and let them also simmer until pouring in vegetable broth and white wine. Season with parsley, basil salt and pepper and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for next 10 to 15 minutes stirring occasionally.
  3. Meanwhile in a large pot bring slightly salted water to a boil and cook gnocchi until soft.
  4. In a large pan sprinkle some vegetable oil and grill pork chops on both sides.
  5. Add cooking cream to the sauce and let it cook until you get a thick cream. Stir in the cooked gnocchi and serve with grilled pork chops!
