Zagreb steak & pea risotto

I love Zagreb, it’s where I was born, where I learned how to drive a bicycle, where I had my first birthday party and where I’m still living and spending days studying for my Bachelor’s degree in Robotics & Mechatronics. Zagreb has a lot of beautiful places and hidden spots, where you can find great food and drinks and have a great time with friends.

One of my favorite.. you’ll probably notice that I have a lot of favorite dishes, the fact is that I don’t want to get tied to just one cause there are so many more dishes from all over the world I haven’t tried so far.. as I was saying, one of my favorite dishes originally from Croatia is Zagreb steak – filled with ham & cheese.

How to

  1. Take the schnitzels and beat them until thin and wide. Season with salt. Place a piece of ham and a piece of cheese on the beaten schnitzel and fold it in a pillow shape. First place the folded schnitzel in flour, then in egg and milk mixture and finish of by covering it in bread crumbs.
  2. Heat olive oil in a medium sauce pan. Simmer onion and peas for 5 to 10 min. Add rice and 1,7 l of vegetable stock. Cook rice until soft and serve it with grated Parmesan cheese.
  3. Heat oil in a large frying pan. Fry the Zagreb steaks over low heat so it doesn’t end up raw. Cook until golden and crispy.
