Donuts

You can buy donuts almost in every bakery or grocery. There are ring-shaped donuts or donuts filled with jam, those covered with sprinkles or dipped in chocolate. You may love them or you may hate them, I choose to love them.

Ingredients

  • 500 g all-purpose flour
  • 40 g fresh yeast
  • 0,25 l milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 4 tbsp oil
  • 2 tbsp rum
  • pinch of salt
  • oil to fry

How to

  1. Heat 0,15 l of milk. Add fresh yeast to warm milk with a pinch of sugar and let it rest for 10 min. The mixture should double in size.
  2. In another bowl mix together 1 egg, 2 egg yolks, 2 tbsp of sugar, 4 tbsp of oil and 2 tbsp of rum. Mix in flour, yeast & milk and a pinch of salt. While mixing the dough manually or using a dough mixer gradually add the 0,1 l of milk left.
  3. Leave the dough to rest in a warm place for about an hour. The dough will triple in size. Cut out 5 cm balls and roll them out on a floured surface in oval shapes.
  4. Fry the donuts in a large frying pan until golden brown. Depending on their size it will take them up to 10 min to fry. When finished serve them covered in powdered sugar or filled with any fruit jam available.
